Dr. Who Marathon, Summer Concerts, Author Visits

Other events include school board and council meetings, personal finance presentations, Bookends signings and movie showings.

Monday

Ridgewood's school board will meet up at 5 p.m. There's quite an agenda too, though it's unlikely more than one member of the public will show up. Anyway, the district will chat about district and board goals as well as a self-assessment on HIB. HR Director Gary Hall is resigning while a new director of technology is expected to be appointed (John Ryan Kenny), per the agenda. Oh, and bids are in on upgrades to the MDF room at RHS, totaling roughly $130,000.

The Glen Rock Borough Council holds a workshop at 7:30 p.m. They're expected to talk about turf fields (and since they're apparently gluttons for punishment, they'll talk more about it on Wednesday).

The Glen Rock Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m. for its public meeting. On the agenda is a $200,000 bid to replace the tennis courts at the high school. Not much else is up for discussion, judging by the agenda.

Tuesday

Shirley Jones, star of The Partridge Family, will appear at Bookends at 7 p.m. She'll be signing copies of her latest book.

The Moonlighters Swing Orchestra with Shelli Latore will perform at the Kasschau Band Shell at 8:30 p.m.

Trees, Bees & Seas author Alison Formento visits the Ridgewood Public Library at 4 p.m. for an interactive program.

Thanks to a partnership with Books, Bytes & Beyond, children's author Herman Harish will be at the Glen Rock Public Library at 7 p.m. for a reading and signing. Check out more info here.

College-bound students should consider carving out an hour of their Tuesday night. Ridgewood resident Kathleen Entwistle, a senior VP at UBS Financial Services, will be holding a workshop on all things college and money management at 7 p.m. The event is for grades 11 and up.

Wednesday

Are you a fan of dinosaurs? How about Jeff Goldblum? Thought so. Jurassic Park will be shown at Van Neste Square at 9 p.m. Bring a blanket and check it out on the big screen.

After two days apart, the Glen Rock Borough Council will meet up again, this time for a public meeting. An agenda has yet to be posted online.

Thursday

Doo wop group Yester Dayze will harmonize at the Kasschau Band Shell at 8:30 p.m.

Hold the phone booth, Whovians! Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to the Ridgewood Public Library at 4 p.m. to marathon select episodes of cult classic BBC series Dr. Who. There will be pizza and trendy nerddom. Hours of it. And screwdriver pens, whatever that means.
