Two Village Restaurants Make List of Notable Newcomers

Two eateries in Ridgewood named among the best 25 New Jersey restaurants to open in 2013.

Although the village was not represented on New Jersey Monthly's list of top 25 restaurants in New Jersey, a few newcomers are gaining statewide recognition.

Upstart farm-to-table Ridgewood Fare and Montclair transplant Raymond's were both listed by New Jersey Monthly Magazine as new and notable.

"'American fusion' is the mantra of this cozy bistro, along with fresh, local, seasonal, and (when possible) organic and sustainable. Eleven wines by the bottle under $40," the magazine wrote of Ridgewood Fare.

Of Raymond's, the lifestyle magazine wrote, "Raymond Badach and business partner Joanne Ricci open a long-awaited branch of their always-packed, atmospherically retro, all-days, all-meals, All-American Montclair eater and BYO. The new outpost has 140 seats indoors, compared to 90, but less outdoor seating, though a view of the park."
