Village Native Oversees ESPN Documentary Films on Women in Sports
Libby Geist is the driving force behind ESPN's "Nine for IX", a series profiling notable women who overcame discrimination.

A village native who oversaw nine documentary films about women in sports is the subject of a recent feature profile.
Libby Geist, who grew up in Ridgewood and is the brother of Willie Geist, spoke to northjersey.com about the award-winning ESPN documentary series "Nine for IX," directed by female filmmakers.
The films – which chronicle women's volleyball coach Pat Summit, Venus Williams's fight for equal pay, the changing culture for female reporters, and pro basketballer Sheryl Swoopes, among others – are part of ESPN's reporting on the 40th anniversary of Title IX, legislation barring sex discrimination to any program receiving federal funding.
The two-time Peabody Award winner told the news website that the process was research-heavy and a real "undertaking."
