Waldwick Student Receives Scholarship Amid Crisis
Alliance of Private Special Education Schools of North Jersey Announces Winner

Waldwick NJ- The Alliance of Private Special Education Schools in North Jersey has announced the winner of the Joe Gorga Transition to Adult Life Scholarship that supports a student with disabilities in pursuit of a higher education and career training after graduation.
Each year, the Alliance provides scholarships to graduating high school students with disabilities who have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing higher learning in post-secondary education and/or career training opportunities. After reviewing scores of applications, Sydney Moore, a senior at The Forum School in Waldwick, has been designated as the scholarship award winner.
Sydney has been accepted into Bergen Community College for Fall 2020 where he will pursue a Liberal Arts Degree focusing on Psychology and Writing. Sydney’s application, volunteer experience and academic achievements clearly demonstrate his success and determination to reach his highest potential.
“When I first enrolled in The Forum School, I did not really speak much. I ‘communicated’ through blind anger. The Forum School taught me how to be social, how to communicate and how to manage my emotions. I have already written a multitude of short stories. After college graduation I wish to be an author and to dip my feet into the world of psychology and will utilize my time spent in college to see that these aspirations come true,” wrote Sydney in his application.
Sydney will receive $1,000.00 to continue moving toward his bright future of helping others through his stories. The annual scholarship is created to support and empower students with disabilities and illustrate that every student has the capacity to succeed.
