Women Gardeners of Ridgewood Host Garden Event Featuring David Culp April 9
Culp will explain how to design a layered garden, how to choose the correct plants by understanding how they grow and change, and more.

The Women Gardeners of Ridgewood will host a special garden event, “The Layered Garden,” on Thursday, April 9, presented by famed garden designer and author David Culp.
Culp will lead the audience through a virtual tour of his celebrated layered garden at Brandywine Cottage in Downingtown, PA. He will give a lesson in how to design a layered garden, how to choose the correct plants by understanding how they grow and change throughout the seasons, and how to maintain it for season-long interest. The lecture will also feature an introduction to Culp’s signature plants for all four seasons.
The layering design technique consists of interplanting many different species in the same area so that as one plant passes its peak, another takes over - which results in a “nonstop parade of color throughout the year,” according to the Women Gardeners of Ridgewood.
