ORADELL, NJ — Johnny Langan was named Big Ten C0-Freshman of the Week for the huge game he had against Liberty Oct. 26 — a game the Scarlet Knights won.

Langan, a Bergen Catholic alumnus, ran for 118 yards, completed 15 of 21 passes for 192 yards, threw for two touchdowns, and ran for another in Rutgers' 44-34 win.

"[Johnny] went out there today and cut it loose and played like the competitor I know he is," interim head Nunzio Campanile said of the redshirt freshman. "He's one of the toughest human beings I've ever met, and he's one of the greatest competitors I've ever met."

Langan was the first Rutgers quarterback to rush for 100 yards in a game since 1961.

"We just really attacked this week on offense," Langan said in a news release. "We had our best week of practice all year. We just translated that onto the field and I'm really happy about it."
