Bergen Catholic's Mike Whalen Wins Brett Taylor Scholarship

Bergen Catholic senior Mike Whalen was honored as one of the four recipients of the 2013 Brett Taylor Scholarship, an academic award given to either a Cross Country or Track & Field Student-Athlete in Bergen County. 

Whalen becomes the first-ever Bergen Catholic student-athlete to have won the Brett Taylor Scholarship, which includes a $1,000 award.

The scholarship is named in honor of Brett Taylor, a former cross-country star at Hackensack High School in the early 1990s, who passed away at the age of 28.  The scholarship fund was started in his memory, and has awarded over $64,000 since 1996 to high school track athletes in Bergen County.

Mike Whalen will continue his Cross Country and Track & Field career next fall at Franklin & Marshall College.
