Carnevale Earns All-American Recognition

River Dell alum Stephanie Carnevale was recently recognized after finishing seventh at the NCAA Championships.

River Dell High School alum Stephanie Carnevale recently earned All-American honors by finishing seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships. Carnevale, who graduated River Dell in 2010, is currently a junior at Muhlenberg College.

Carnevale, who got into the national meet as the 15th and last qualifier, posted the seventh-fastest qualifying time with a school-record 8.85, to advance to the final. The time shaved over a tenth of a second off her previous school-record-setting personal best to break the Centennial Conference record.

In the final, Carnevale crossed the finish line in 8.95 seconds, a hundredth of a second ahead of the eighth-place finisher and making her the first junior in program history to earn indoor All-America honors.

According to Muhlenberg College, Carnevale is only the second indoor All-American in the school's women’s track and field history, and the first junior to accomplish the feat. Alex Faust was the other, placing sixth in the pole vault in her senior season of 2010.

Carnevale is currently majoring in business administration at Muhlenberg. During her time at River Dell, she also set several time-breaking records in the 55m hurdles, 100m hurdles, high jump and long jump during the indoor and outdoor track seasons.
