Carnevale Named Top Intercollegiate Track Athlete

River Dell alum Stephanie Carnevale was recently recognized by the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women as outstanding track athlete.

River Dell High School alum, Stepanie Carnevale, was selected by the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (LVAIAW) as the outstanding track athlete. Carnevale, who graduated River Dell in 2010, is currently a junior at Muhlenberg College.

According to Muhlenberg College, Carnevale is only the second runner to earn this honor. Carnevale broke four school records in the 60 meters, 55-meter hurdles and 60-meter hurdles indoors and 100-meter hurdles outdoors in 2013. She earned All-American honors by finishing seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships and won a gold medal and two silvers at Centennial Conference championship meets. 

Carnevale helped Muhlenberg tie for second indoors and finish third outdoors at the Centennial Conference meets after coming in seventh in both last year.

Carnevale is currently majoring in business administration at Muhlenberg. During her time at River Dell, she also set several time-breaking records in the 55m hurdles, 100m hurdles, high jump and long jump during the indoor and outdoor track seasons.

Founded in 1978, the LVAIAW promotes women’s sports in the spirit of collegiality among area colleges.
