Evergisto Ramos Jr., 84, 52-Year River Edge Resident

Ramos was happiest when he was working on a home project and listening to opera on his workshop radio.

RIVER EDGE, NJ — Evergisto Ramos Jr. 84, a 52-year River Edge resident, died Nov. 5.

He was an Army veteran during the Korean War.

He was a machinist for the Universal Corrugated Box Machinery Corp and was responsible for the installation and maintenance of the corporation's machinery throughout the United States and Venezuela.

Neighbors knew that Ramos was happiest when he was working on a home project and listening to opera on his workshop radio, his obituary states.

He enjoyed being involved with children's scouting programs and coaching their sports teams.

He and his wife enjoyed touring the American West, traveling to Europe and often visited Massachusetts and the New York Adirondacks visiting their children.

His favorite pastimes were playing golf, tinkering in is workshop and working with the ladies on the River Edge Beautification Committee.

He is survived by his wife Ann; sons Everett, Christopher and Michael; grandchildren Bonny, Lynn, Megan and Daniel; sister Martha and nieces and nephews Robert and Jerri Parlow, Donald and Patti Parlow, Christopher and Toni Parlow, Patricia Parlow, Joanne Nagoda and their children.

Internment is at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York.
