Nearby Seven Pipes Bridge To Be Replaced

The bridge will be closed while work on the $2.2 million project is complete.

The nearby Seven Pipes Bridge over the Oradell Reservoir will be replaced, county officials announced Friday.

The bridge, which connects Closter and Harrington Park, is at the intersection of four major roadways, including Knickerbocker Road and Harrington Park Avenue.

The bridge will be closed by while work is done.

The bridge's seven metal pipes, which were installed 40 years ago, will be replaced with three concrete culverts. The nearby intersections will be changed to improve traffic flow and safety.

Work on the $2.2 million project is expected to begin in late spring, county officials said. The majority of the funds are from state Department of Transportation grants.

"This much-needed project allows us to replace a bridge that has exceeded its useful life-cycle," said Freeholder Steve Tanelli. "We are grateful for this state funding and look forward to improving this bridge for the benefit of all residents in the Northern Valley.”
