Odor Causes Borough Hall Evacuation in River Edge

Employees were relocated for approximately 20 minutes while PSE&G cleared the building

Borough employees in River Edge were evacuated to the public library for approximately 20 minutes on Monday morning while PSE&G investigated a reported gas odor at borough hall.

According to Police Lt. Michael Walker, the odor may have originated from the sewer. PSE&G and the borough fire department were on scene to clear the building.

Tenney Avenue was closed to vehicular traffic while officials investigated the odor. The street was reopened to traffic by 11:20am on Monday.
