Oradell-Area School Districts Could Get More State Aid Next Year
River Edge, Oradell, and River Dell Regional could get more state aid under a plan to provide property tax cap relief.
ORADELL/RIVER EDGE, NJ — The River Edge, Oradell, and River Dell Regional High School school districts could receive more state aid under a new plan from state lawmakers to provide property tax cap relief for districts that are facing cuts.
River Edge could get more than $2.1 million in state aid for the 2019-20 academic year, $204,000, or 10.5 percent more than last year, according to a plan from New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney.
Oradell could receive more than $477,000 in state aid, $51,800, or 12.2 percent more than last year.

The River Dell Regional High School district could receive more than $1.1 million in aid, $113,800, or nearly 11.5 percent more than last year.
Nearly 200 districts could, potentially, see a decrease in the amount of aid they receive under Sweeney's plan.

Sweeney said this weekend he will introduce legislation to provide property tax cap relief for districts facing cuts due to a 2 percent tax increase cap championed by former Gov. Chris Christie.
