Oradell Attorney to Push for New Application in Proposed Development, and More This Week

Louis Flora, the attorney representing Oradell in the New Milford Zoning Board hearings of the proposed development of the United Water Property, is expected to challenge the application at the special meeting of the Zoning Board on Thursday.

This meeting comes on the heels of the dramatic ending of last week's meeting when counsel for the developer announced that they had entered into a conceptual agreement with the New Milford Board of Education to donate three-acres of property, along with a 'sizable' donation, for a 'field of dreams.'

Opposing counsel plans to petition the Board to consider this a new application, rather than an amendment to the existing application.

Flora said that because the land will now have a different use, residents who live within 200 feet of the property have to be re-noticed. Flora's concern was that with only nine days between last week's meeting and Thursday's meeting, there is not enough statutory time to notice all of those owners.

The meeting of the Zoning Board will be Thursday, 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of New Milford Borough Hall, 930 River Road.

The Mayor and Council of River Edge will be holding a meeting Monday evening. The work session will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the public meeting at 8 p.m. An amendment to the 2013 municipal budget, along with the hiring of a Code Enforcement Officer at 4 hours per week (name has not yet been disclosed). Oradell's Zoning Board will be meeting on Monday at 7:30pm in the Council Chambers at Borough Hall.
