River Dell High School Makes Newsweek's Ranking of Top High Schools

River Dell High School made it to Newsweek's ranking of top high schools in the country. River Dell placed 819 out of more than 26,407 high schools nationwide. With factors that included high Advanced Placement test scores, a 94 percent graduation rate and an average SAT score of 1643, River Dell placed tenth among Bergen County High Schools.

Developer Breaking Ground at Old Huffman Koos Site in River Edge

Route 4-Main Street LLC which is owned by Peter and Paul Ciancia was granted site plan approval by the Planning Board in the fall of 2007 to construct a trio of retail buildings on Main Street with Total Wine moving closer towards Rt. 4 into a new 30,000-square-foot building on the property. CVS signed an agreement in principal to move from their current location near the River Edge Diner into the current Total Wine store. A third building, approximately 22,000-square-foot, situated in the middle of the property had not yet garnered a potential lessee at that time.

Oradell Native Puts Finishing Touches on Fresh & Fancy's White Barn for Saturday's Opening

From the moment you cross the footbridge you have entered the Secret Garden with its vibrant colored perennials, assorted Adirondack chairs, wheelbarrows filled with dirt and clay pots filled with fragrant herbs. There is little doubt that this farm was redesigned with the imagination of child in mind. The White Barn will include a teaching kitchen, a craft center where families can show up any time during the day to do crafts and an area where kids can come to plant.  

Break in Electrical Transmission Line Closes Parts of Kinderkamack Road

A crack that formed overnight in a PSE&G underground electrical transmission line has forced officials to close Kinderkamack Road between Reservoir Avenue and Main Street while repairs are being made, officials said Tuesday.

River Edge Mayor and Council Consider Sidewalk Dining

The governing body of River Edge is considering the approval of an outdoor dining ordinance allowing restaurants to set up tables outside during the warmer months so that patrons can enjoy the fresh air.

Oradell Proposed Municipal Budget has Estimated $497 Increase

Oradell's proposed 2013 Municipal Budget calls for an estimated total local levy (municipal and library) of $11,177,602. With the proposed budget, Oradell homeowners will see an estimated total average annual increase of approximately $497. This total includes the municipal, library, schools (regional & local) and county & county open space.

Former students who claim they were sexually abused by priests while attending Bergen Catholic file claims for $16.5 million settlement; prompted by the effects of Superstorm Sandy that left residents in River Edge, Oradell and New Milford without power and gas for 10 days, PSE&G will be running underground transformer lines from the New Milford substation to the River Edge Swim Club, as part of its "Energy Strong" initiative.

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day during post-Civil War Reconstruction in the South. It began as a day Confederate women decorated the graves of Civil War veterans. Or, the veterans of the War Between the States as the Civil War will forever be called south of Washington D.C.
