River Dell High School Wins Regional ShopRite Cup

The school's athletes won Group III titles in boy's track and field, girl's volleyball, and boys' and girl's track.

ORADELL, N.J. — River Dell Regional High School is the recipient of the ShopRite Cup, an award that honors athletic excellence.

The award is presented by ShopRite and the NJSIAA, the state's governing body for high school athletics.

Schools in each of the state's six athletic groups are awarded points based on how their teams perform in championships in the 32 state-sanctioned sports. They receive more points per season whenever none of their student-athletes or coaches were disqualified.

River Dell won Group III with 64 points. The girls' volleyball, boys' and girls' winter track, and boys' spring track and field teams finished in first place. The football team finished second, boys' cross-country finished third, and girls cross-country finished fourth at the conclusion of their respective seasons.

“We are proud to honor these six scholastic athletic programs, with an emphasis on their student-athletes,” said Steve Timko, NJSIAA executive director. “These outstanding young people exhibit exceptional sportsmanship and dedication, which are prime reasons their schools’ athletic teams have been so successful.”
