River Edge, Oradell Students Honored For Academic Achievements

They were among dozens of Immaculate Heart Academy students honored for their academic achievements.

ORADELL, NJ — Two local high school students have received an award for their work in science.

Jessica O'Neill and Kang Hyun Ryu are juniors at Immaculate Heart Academy. They were among several students honored at the school's honors convocation for their academic achievements.

O'Neill, of Oradell, received the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institue Medalist Award for her "outstanding achievement" in math and science. Recipients who apply and are accepted into Rensselaer receive a minimum $25,000 annual scholarship.

Ryu, of River Edge, received the University of Rochester's Xerox Award. It is given for "outstanding achievement in the pursuit of innovation," IHA said. Recipients must "demonstrate a flair for creativity and an appreciation for the possibilities of technology." Recipients who apply and are accepted into the university receive a minimum $40,000 scholarship.

Immaculate Heart Academy is an all-girls Catholic regional high school in the Township of Washington. About 800 students are enrolled at the school.
