RiverDell Sends 10 Wrestlers to Title Tournament in Atlantic City

For the second year in a row, DJ Tirelli, Johnny Sebastian, Christian Jenco, Tyler Casamenti and Carmine Goldsack will all return to Atlantic City this weekend with their eyes on a state individual wrestling title.

Tirelli who finished third in the Region 2 tournament is the lone Golden Hawk to compete in Atlantic City this year and will look to redeem himself in the 120-pound bracket after falling in the third round last year. As an unseeded wrestler, he will face Peter Ottaviano of Colts Neck on Friday night and a win sets him up against top-seeded Brenden Calas of Seton Hall Prep.

Bergen Catholic's Sebastian, who has moved up from his former 160 weight class to 182, earned the top-seed for this weekend after claiming his second Region 2 title. Sebastian returns to AC with one state title to his name (160 class) and looks to add another.

Tyler Casamenti, Christian Jenco and Carmine Goldsack all return to AC this weekend as well after disappointing losses in the state tournament in 2012. Joining them for the first time will be Nick Suriano, JP Ascolese, Laurien Anghelina, Joe Grello and Kevin Mulligan.

The state wrestling tournament begins on Friday, 5pm with the first round followed by the 7pm pre-quarterfinals at Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City.

Saturday's schedule starts is completely dedicated to wrestlebacks with the first round kicking off at 10am. The quarterfinals and second round follow at 12pm, the third round at 5pm and end with the semifinals and fourth round at 7pm.

Sunday picks up with the fifth round wrestlebacks at 10am with consolation finals for 3rd, 5th and 7th place at 11am. The finals will be held at 3pm.
