Rutgers Hires Bergen Catholic Football Coach Nunzio Campanile
Campanile will coach the running backs for head coach Chris Ash. Campanile won a state group title in 2017.

ORADELL, NJ — Bergen Catholic High School football coach Nunzio Campanile has been hired to coach at Rutgers University.
Chris Ash announced Campanile's hiring Tuesday. Campanile has coached at Bergen Catholic for eight years. He won a state title in 2017.
"During our two years here I have watched him work and witnessed his passion for the game. He has great relationships with his players and great respect from people all across this state. I look forward to having him help us move our program forward," Ash said.

Campanile compiled a 60-28 record leading the Crusaders as a perennial top-100 national football power.
Bergen Catholic finished the 2017 season with a Non-Public, Group 4 title, the school's first state championship since 2004 with a 44-7 win over St. Peter's Prep.

The Crusaders saw seven all-state quarterbacks under Campanile’s watch and averaged more than 35 points per game during his tenure. Numerous prospects signed scholarship offers across the country.
Before coming to Bergen Catholic, Campanile worked under legendary coach Greg Toal at Don Bosco Prep. The Ironmen won six state titles in 10 seasons with Campanile as the offensive coordinator with a 112-6 record, winning a national championship in 2009.
A 1999 graduate of Montclair State University, Campanile also attended Amherst College for two years. He has been married to his wife Heather for 14 years and the couple has two children, Michael and James.
