School Budgets to be Introduced This Week

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming up in RiverDell this week

MONDAY: The River Edge Mayor and Council have a 7pm work session and 8pm regular meeting. During the work session the Council will continue discussions on what to do with the former Grove Street DPW lot and progress on replacing the borough's damaged sidewalk slabs.

At 8pm, the River Dell Board of Education will introduce their 2013-14 school budget.

TUESDAY: The Oradell Planning Board is currently scheduled to meet at 7:30pm.

WEDNESDAY: The River Edge Board of Education will introduce their 2013-14 school budget at 7:30pm at Roosevelt School. The district's preliminary budget initally called for a major building project to either remove contained asbestos or replace a large area of roofing at Cherry Hill School. 

Oradell Public School will also introduce their school budget on Wednesday, 7:30pm in the school media center.

THE WEEKEND: The Oradell Special Events Committee will be hosting a Beefsteak Dinner on Saturday, 6pm in the newly renovated Veterans Building/Senior Center, located behind the Post Office.

The Bergen County Players conclude their production of "" this weekend with performances on Saturday 8pm and Sunday 2pm.

The Bergen County Historical Society celebrates the Lenape New Year, Chwame Gischuch (Shad Moon), at Historic New Bridge Landing, on Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. Neil Pederson and Dario Martin-Benito from the Tree Ring Lab at the Lamont-Doherty Observatory will speak on "Ancient Trees Reveal Lost Human and Environmental Histories” in the Steuben House at 1:30pm. Learn how trees reveal events that have long since faded from human memory. At 3 pm, historian Kevin Wright, author of 1609: A Country That Was Never Lost, will speak on the “Ancient Homeland of the Minisinks." Throughout the afternoon, Bob Wills, of the Sunrise Trading Post, will share his knowledge of Lenape foods, herbs and customs, showing and selling reproduction trade items.

Athletics

Wrestlers that qualifed for the March 8-10 State Wrestling Championships will compete in Atlantic City for a state title. The action begins Friday, 5pm for the preliminaries and pre-quarter finals. On Saturday the competition starts at 10 am for the quarter-finals and wrestle-backs I and II. Following the morning session, Boardwalk Hall will clear the facility and re-open doors at 4 pm for the 5 pm evening session of the semi-finals and wrestle-backs III and IV. On Sunday, Mar. 10, competition begins at 10 am for consolations, followed by the finals and awards ceremony at 2 pm. 

Bergen Baseball will scrimmage at Montclair, Friday 4pm.

Bergen Lacrosse will scrimamge at Summit, Saturday 2pm.
