Wallace J. Franklin, 94, WWII Vet From Oradell

Franklin served as an aerial navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

ORADELL, NJ — Wallace J. Franklin, 94, of Oradell, died Monday.

Franklin was predeceased by his wife, Catherine, sons Wallace and Christopher, grandson Wallace, two brothers and sister, his obituary states.

He was a graduate of The City College of New York and Columbia University.

He served as an aerial navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a project engineer at Curtis Wright Aeronautics, but had a second career as an engineering professor at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He went to sea at 67 and earned his third assistant engineer's license. He earned Teacher of the Year.

He is survived by his daughter Catherine, sons Michael and Quentin, their spouses, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family is Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell. A Mass of Christian burial is Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 300 Elm St., Oradell Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
