Attempted Stolen U-Haul Vehicle, Fraud: Scotch Plains PD Blotter
A resident told police two suspects attempted to steal a rented U-Haul vehicle from their driveway while damage was done to a park restroom.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The Scotch Plains Police Department handled a number of criminal complaints over the past week. Here is a summary of the incidents that the department continues to investigate.
- A resident on Victor Street reported on June 30 that someone had fraudulently applied for unemployment benefits in their name.
- A resident on Lyde Place reported that someone broke the front window at their home during the overnight hours of June 30.
- A resident on Spruce Mill Lane reported on July 1 that someone had attempted to steal a vehicle outside their. The residents told police they saw a female look inside their front window and then went outside to find a male suspect getting inside of their rented U-Haul vehicle, which was parked outside of their home. Both suspects left the residence when they were spotted.
- Police reported finding damage to a public restroom at Farley Park on July 2.
- A resident on Cooper Road reported on July 2 that someone had fraudulently applied for unemployment benefits in their name.
- An employee of the Look Twice store located at 451 Park Ave. reported on July 3 that items had been taken from the store.
