Congregation Beth Israel to Hold Family Service for Rosh Hashanah

Synagogue to hold free family service for Jewish High Holidays

Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will hold a free family service on Erev Rosh Hashanah, Sunday evening, September 29, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. This child-friendly service is open to the community for members and non-members alike. Tickets are not necessary for attendance.

The one-hour service will usher in the Jewish New Year with songs, stories, prayers and shofar blowing. Rabbi Howard Tilman and Cantor Matt Axelrod will officiate.

“We are thrilled to be offering this open High Holiday family service for the first time,” said Rabbi Tilman. “We plan on making this special service accessible and interesting to people of all backgrounds and experience levels, from kids to adults, so that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate the holiday. It’s a great way to start the New Year."
