COVID Cancels Scotch Plains-Fanwood Memorial Day Parade 2021

For the second year in a row, the annual Memorial Day parade will be canceled "because of the lingering pandemic."

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Memorial Day Parade will be canceled for the second year in a row "because of the lingering pandemic," Scotch Plains Councilman Roc White.

White made the announcement in the township's newsletter on Friday and also asked residents for help.

"Please let us know if you have the name of a World War II veteran living in town. We keep an ongoing list at town hall, but I can only surmise that there are names were are missing. There is no time to lose, as each and every Scotch Plains resident who served should be continually recognized for his or her valiant defense of our principles of freedom," said White.
