Fanwood Halloween Parade, Costume Contest Canceled

FANWOOD, NJ — Another popular event in Fanwood has become the latest casualty of the coronavirus pandemic.

The borough will not be hosting its annual Halloween parade and costume contest this year, the Fanwood Recreation Department recently announced.

Despite the cancelation of these two events, several other Halloween events in Fanwood are still happening. They are:

Fanwood Spookiest House Contest

RULES

• Upload a photo of your Halloween-themed residence to fanwoodcontest@gmail.com by Sunday, October 25th, midnight. (Including people in photo is optional.)
• Include your name, address, cell number and email address.
• Your entry must be a residence in Fanwood.
• Beginning Monday, October 26th, 12 noon, your entry will be displayed on facebook.com/fanwoodnewjersey and include your address (so your neighbors can admire your work!), unless you request that your address not be included.
• Entries that feature political statements, offensive language, sexist imagery or anything else deemed objectionable by the contest administrators will be disqualified and not displayed.

PICKING THE WINNERS

• Beginning Monday, October 26th, 12 noon, all Fanwood residents are invited to go to facebook.com/fanwoodnewjersey, look at all the entries and vote for their favorite Spookiest House by “liking” their favorite. Voting ends October 31st, midnight.
• The entry that receives the most “likes” will be declared the winner!

PRIZES

• 1st Prize: $150 Gift Card. 2nd Prize: $100 Gift Card. 3rd Prize: $75 Gift Card.
• Winners will be announced on Monday, November 2nd.

Fanwood Face Mask Decorating Contest
RULES

• KIDS ONLY! You must be 14 or younger and a Fanwood resident to enter!
• Upload a photo of your personally decorated Face Mask to fanwoodcontest@gmail.com by Sunday, October 25th, midnight. (This contest is intended for COVID-19 protection-style face masks, not Halloween masks.)
• Include your name, age, address, cell number and email address.
• Beginning Monday, October 26th, 12 noon, your entry will be displayed on facebook.com/fanwoodnewjersey and include your first name and age unless you request that information not be included.
• Entries that feature political statements, offensive language, sexist imagery or anything else deemed objectionable by the contest administrators will be disqualified and not displayed.

• To register, go to Community Pass, log in, click on “Browse Activities,” select Halloween 2020 Programs, find this program, and follow the instructions on how to register online. No paper registrations or checks will be accepted for this program.
