Head-On Car Crash Kills Man In Scotch Plains: Police
John E. Modzrecki was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon in Scotch Plains, police said.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - A 71-year-old Toms River man was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Saturday in Scotch Plains, according to the Scotch Plains Police Department.
According to authorities, John E. Modzrecki was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Stephen Henderson, a 46-year-old Scotch Plains resident, was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus that collided with Modzrecki's Honda CRV. Henderson was brought to Overlook Medical Center in Summit to be treated for minor injuries, police said.

The crash took place shortly after 4:30 p.m. and both cars were in the westbound lane on Raritan Road when first responders arrived at the scene, police said.
Authorities said there were no charges filed.

The Scotch Plains Police Department Traffic Unit conducted the crash investigation with the assistance of the Union County Police Department’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, officials said.
