SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Who doesn't love Tom Petty?

The question seemed so simple to Darryell Stone in 2012 when he was listening to the radio. When he began to ask similar questions to fellow musicians— including vocalist Jonathan Guthrie —he found that the fondness for which people carry for Petty's music was almost universal.

So before long, the two formed a tribute band called The Wildflowers that performs covers from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, taking care to ensure that they do so with reverent respect to the late, great Petty. After touring locally around their hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, for the first year of their existence, The Wildflowers, became a known a commodity that gained notoriety around the southeast.
