Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Train In Union County
The Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line rail service has since resumed after a pedestrian was reportedly fatally hit Friday.
ELIZABETH, NJ — A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a train in Elizabeth on Friday afternoon.
At about 11:44 a.m., the Northeast Corridor train 3838, which left from Trenton Transit Center at 10:41 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 12:17 p.m., hit and killed a pedestrian at Elizabeth station, said NJ Transit spokesman Everett Merrill.
There were no injuries reported to about 350 customers and crew onboard the train, said Merrill.

The Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line rail service were both suspended at the time and have since resumed as of 1 p.m.
Eastbound service will continue to bypass Elizabeth/North Elizabeth and customers are asked to transfer at Newark Airport for westbound service to Elizabeth and North Elizabeth. Customers at Elizabeth and North Elizabeth stations should board a westbound train to Linden and transfer for eastbound service.
