Scotch Plains 10-Year-Old Stars In Netflix's 'Country Comfort'
Shiloh Verrico stars as Cassidy in Netflix's new original comedy series "Country Comfort." The first season will start streaming March 19.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Scotch Plains 10-year-old Shiloh Verrico is breaking into the national spotlight with her upcoming role as 'Cassidy' in Netflix's new original comedy series "Country Comfort." The 10-episode first season is set to start streaming March 19. (see the trailer below)
"It is such a dream come true to be working with Netflix and to be a part of this incredible series," said Verrico. "I can't wait to watch 'Country Comfort' with my family and friends while on Zoom, and I love that it has something for everyone."
"Country Comfort" follows a down-on-her-luck, aspiring country singer 'Bailey' (Katharine McPhee) who takes a job as a nanny for a rugged, widowed cowboy (Eddie Cibrian) and his musically-inclined children. Shiloh portrays the emotional center of the family, 'Cassidy,' who is having an especially tough time coming to terms with the loss of her mother two years prior.

"Cassidy is the kind of character that a young actor hopes to be lucky enough to play. She has faced the tragedy and loss of losing her mom at a young age and is struggling to make sense of her new reality. She is doing her best to take care of her family and keep everyone safe, while also struggling to deal with her own grief. It was so exciting and challenging to do her justice and I can't wait for the world to meet her," said Verrico.
This isn't Verrico's first break into the limelight. She began acting in the theater at the age of five, appearing in two off-Broadway theatre productions. The acting bug officially bit her the following year when she was cast in a national television commercial for Breyers Vanilla Bean ice cream.

Shiloh has also acted in a number of features and short films such as "Crown Vic," and she has appeared in multiple co-starring roles on network series such as "The Flight Attendant."
Filming during the coronavirus pandemic was a whole new experience for Verrico. She initially started filming the first four episodes of the Netflix series in February of 2020 before the pandemic hit but then filming was suspended due to safety reasons.
Filming ramped back up in September with every possible precaution. Verrico recalled having to use gloves, hand sanitizer, masks, face shields, goggles, and wipes constantly. She was also tested multiple times before and during filming.
"We wore safety gear at all times except immediately before filming and there were special COVID safety people who constantly cleaned every surface and monitored everyone to be sure they remained at least six feet apart," said Verrico. "At all times we felt that every possible precaution was being taken and we were able to focus on acting. I missed being able to hang out with the cast and crew, but I am so thankful we were able to finish the season and no one got sick."
Verrico who attends Park Middle School said she was able to juggle her studies through Zoom while filming in LA.
"Ms. Dumaresq, the Principal of Park Middle was so supportive. I left before school resumed in September, and my homeroom teacher Ms. Dreschel went above and beyond by dropping off my school supplies at my home so I had what I needed before we left," said Verrico. I love going to school and being with my friends, and I am lucky that I also get to also pursue my dream of acting."
