Scotch Plains-Fanwood Athletes Test Positive For Coronavirus
"There are a number of cases in the SP-F Athletic program and there are two cases in the football program," Superintendent Joan Mast said.
SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — A number of athletes within the Scotch Plains-Fanwood program have tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent Dr. Joan Mast said.
"There are a number of cases in the SPF Athletic program and there are two cases in the football program," Mast said. "The district is in the process of determining the impact and the next steps."
The school district will continue to teach virtually, Mast said.

Clark's Arthur L. Johnson High School football team is also being quarantined after playing in scrimmages against the Scotch Plains-Fanwood team last Thursday, Clark Superintendent Ed Grande said. Read More: Clark Football Team Quarantined After Contact With Positive Cases
Cases have begun to rise in the area. The popular Scotch Plains bar and restaurant, Darby Road, is temporarily closing after members of their staff tested positive for the coronavirus. Read More: Darby Road Pub Closes, Staff Tests Positive For Coronavirus

As of Monday, Scotch Plains is reporting a total of 374 positive coronavirus cases with 188 recovered and 15 deaths.
As of Wednesday, Union County has reported a total of 17,727 positive cases and 1,189 deaths.
