Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools Raise Wages For Substitute Teachers
Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools increased the substitute teacher daily pay rate to $105 during hybrid and virtual learning.
SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools have increased the substitute teacher daily pay rate to $105 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The new rate took effect on Jan. 1 and all current and incoming substitute teachers will receive the new per diem rate.
"Substitute Teachers play a vital role in our schools. Investing in them at this time is a win-win for everyone. We are focused on hiring new substitutes to increase the pool of already great substitutes that work in our district," said Peter N. Pitucco, Director of Human Resources.

Additionally, during hybrid and virtual learning, the school district created a Google Training and Resources website for substitutes to train and support district substitutes.
Substitute Workshops are held regularly throughout the school year, and over the past several
months the frequency has increased to several per month. The next Substitute Workshop is scheduled for Jan. 20.
