Scotch Plains-Fanwood's COVID-19 Vaccine Numbers: The Latest
As the CDC says fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks, see how many people in Scotch Plains-Fanwood have reached that level.
SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — As the federal Centers for Disease Control changes its guidance on masking for people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, Scotch Plains and Fanwood still has work to do to get its residents vaccinated.
The New Jersey Department of Health released town-level data on COVID-19 vaccinations. The state's COVID-19 dashboard now reveals the percentage of all people, adults and seniors who have been partially or fully vaccinated in each city and town.
Here's the data in Scotch Plains Township and Fanwood Borough as of Friday, May 21:

- Scotch Plains population with at least one dose: 62 percent of all ages, 79 percent of adults (18 and older) and 87 percent of seniors (65 and older).
- Scotch Plains population fully vaccinated: 53 percent of all ages, 69 percent of adults and 82 percent of seniors.
- Fanwood population with at least one dose: 64 percent of all ages, 83 percent of adults (18 and older) and 88 percent of seniors (65 and older).
- Fanwood population fully vaccinated: 55 percent of all ages, 74 percent of adults and 82 percent of seniors.
Scotch Plains and Fanwood are slowly making progress.
In Scotch Plains: Comparing the numbers from May 10, the percentage of fully vaccinated people of all ages increased by 6 percent and the percentage of all ages with at least one dose increased 4 percent.

In Fanwood: Comparing the numbers from May 10, the percentage of fully vaccinated people of all ages increased by 7 percent and the percentage of all ages with at least one dose increased 4 percent.
Across Union County, there have been 481,222 doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered as of May 21, according to the state Department of Health. There were 276,330 county residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccines, the state's COVID-19 database says, and 222,287 who were fully vaccinated as of that date.
New Jersey set a goal to fully vaccinate 70 percent of adults — 4.7 million people — by the end of June. About 3.6 million people in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated as of Monday afternoon.
