The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is excited to announce the return of several youth and teen sports programs this April. Tae Kwon Do, Middle School Running & Conditioning, Youth Soccer and more are all making a comeback at the Y, with updated health and safety procedures in place.

All of the programs are open to active members of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and registration is happening now at fspymca.org/register under “Daxko Program Registration.” Plus, now it’s easier than ever to join the Y. Those interested can do so online at https://fspymca.org/membership/join-the-y, where they also can sign up to tour the Y’s updated facilities and learn more about its offerings.

A 4-week Tae Kwon Do mini session begins April 5, with classes Mondays and Fridays at 5:30pm. This is a great family activity for individuals of all levels who are ages 8 and up. Classes feature the Y’s instructors who bring over 20 years of Tae Kwon Do experience to class. For this session, the Y is offering a special; when you sign up a child, an adult within the same household is free. Following the mini-session, a longer 8-week session of Tae Kwon Do will be held in May and June.

The Y’s Middle School Running & Conditioning program for students in grades 5-8 is also returning this April. The program helps students build their endurance and speed and enhance their running skills. A 4-week session begins April 5 and will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:15pm at the Y (program will be held outdoors when weather permits). Beginners through advanced runners are welcome. A longer 8-week session of Running & Conditioning will follow in May and June.

For younger children, Youth Soccer returns April 6 for ages 4-6. Kids will learn the basics of the game of soccer in a fun, safe atmosphere. While playing soccer, children are exercising, building soccer skills and stimulating their motor skills and coordination. For the 4-week session of Youth Soccer, 4-5 year olds will meet Tuesdays at 4:15pm, and 5-6 year olds will meet Thursdays at 4:15pm. Youth Soccer will be followed by an 8-week session of T-ball beginning in May. Participants in Youth Soccer will have priority registration for T-ball.
