Updated Scotch Plains-Fanwood Election Results

As of Saturday, the Union County Board of Elections has counted 145,278 vote-by-mail ballots out of the roughly 372,854 ballots sent out.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — Union County Board of Elections continues tallying votes as they come in. Here are the latest vote tallies, that were updated on Friday night.

As of Saturday at 4:46 p.m., the Union County Board of Elections has counted 145,278 vote-by-mail ballots out of the roughly 372,854 ballots sent out.

Taking a look at the local races, Democrats continue to lead in the race for mayor and council in Scotch Plains, according to unofficial results.

In Scotch Plains, there is a contested Mayoral race with Republican incumbent Alexander M. Smith running against Democrat Joshua G. Losardo.

  • Joshua G. Losardo: 5,681
  • Alexander M. Smith: 4,571

There is also a contested race for the 1st Ward Council Member seat with Democrat Ellen Zimmerman running against Republican incumbent Theodore J. Spera.

  • Theodore J. Spera: 4,181
  • Ellen Zimmerman: 5,995

In Fanwood, there is an uncontested race on the municipal level with two Democrats running unopposed for three, four-year councilman-at-large seats.

  • Jeffrey Banks: 2,485
  • Anthony Carter: 2,489

Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional School Board has five candidates vying for three seats in the upcoming election.

Amy Boroff and Margaret Maggie Savoca are running for the one, three-year seat to represent Fanwood on the board.

  • Amy Boroff: 1,501
  • Margaret Maggie Savoca: 784

Dr. David Levine, Evan Murray, and Karen Mitchell are running for the two, three-year seats to represent Scotch Plains on the board.

  • Dr. David Levine: 4,558
  • Karen Mitchell: 5,688
  • Evan Murray: 5,187

Votes will continue to be counted daily and updated periodically on the county's election board website. However, official results are not expected until Nov. 20.
