SECAUCUS, NJ — Here's what's offered at our local town library for the remainder of July and August, with programs for both kids and adults:

1. Library summer book sale: Stock up on CDs, DVDs and more. All items just $1.00!

Sunday, July 14 - 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday, July 15 - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

2. Pajama story time. Tuesday, July 16 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Bring kids in their PJs and bring a favorite nighttime friend. Meet in the story tower in library. Open to kids ages 2-6.

3. Moon Landing 50th Anniversary Celebration Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m.

Learn about the Apollo 11 Journey with Space Historian Joe Lennox. See actual spacecraft hardware, authentic flight documentation and more! Moon-themed refreshments will be served! RSVP tpday via the online event calendar at secaucuslibrary.org This program is recommended for adults and children ages 9 and older.

4. Summer Science Lab Series

Thursday, July 18 10:30 a.m.- noon: D.I.Y. lava lamp

Thursday, July 25 10:30 a.m.- noon: Catapult challenge

Thursday, Aug. 15 10:30 a.m. - noon: Elephant toothpaste

Thursday, Aug. 22 10:30 a.m - noon: Air pressure experiments

Students between the ages of 7 and 11 are invited to join us for a new science experiments workshop series, happening in the library's 2nd floor meeting room. Each week, instructor Arjun Athalye will teach participants how to use scientific knowledge and common household ingredients to conduct experiments, win challenges and make cool items such as lava lamps, catapults and "elephant toothpaste." All supplies will be provided. Each workshop is a stand alone event, and must be registered for separately. Registration is mandatory as space is limited!

5. August Art Classes for Adults. Every Wednesday, throughout the month.

August 7th. 7pm. Introduction to Hand Lettering
August 14th. 1pm. Introduction to Hand Lettering
August 21st. 7pm. Watercolor Basics.
August 28th. 1pm. Watercolor Basics.

Back by Popular Demand! Instructor and Artist Swetha Shenoy will teach participants everything you need to know to start making your own watercolors and hand-lettered works of art. All supplies are included. This class is open to adults over the age of 16. In order to accommodate as many artists as possible, attendees should sign up for either an evening or an afternoon session-- but not both. Class sizes are kept small to ensure that all participants get individual attention, so be sure to register right away! Register via the library's online calendar at secaucuslibrary.org

6. Secaucus Community Garden Club - First Meeting! Tuesday, August 20 at 7 p.m.

Gardening is educational, therapeutic, great exercise, and provides such a huge feeling of accomplishment! The goal of this garden club is to unite all gardeners through discussion topics, conversations, demonstrations, and shared experiences. Whether you are a seasoned gardener, a beginner, a house plant enthusiast, or have never gardened but want to learn, this club is for One and All!

Meetings will continue on the 4th Tuesday of every month, starting in September. Open to ages 10 years old through 100. Children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult.

Join the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library for a day of classic automobiles, delicious food, live music, vendors, 50-50 and basket raffles, pony rides, petting zoo animals, children’s activities and more!
