About Half Of Secaucus Votes, Chooses Menendez

Only southern-most Bayonne, part of Kearny and the center of Secaucus near Buchmuller chose Hugin, this map of Hudson County shows.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Like all the other towns in blue-saturated Hudson County, a majority of Secaucus residents chose to re-elect U.S. Senator Bob Menendez on Tuesday.

Menendez won 56 percent of the vote in Secaucus compared to 39 percent for Republican pharmaceutical executive Bob Hugin. Menendez received 3,323 votes from Secaucus residents and Hugin received 2,283. Those are numbers from the Hudson County board of elections and it includes people who voted by mail.

Secaucus also overwhelmingly re-elected Congressman Bill Pascrell over Republican Eric Fisher, 3,310 votes to 1,635.

How was the turnout? For all the talk of what a busy midterm it was, just under half, 48 percent, of all registered Secaucus voters voted Tuesday. According to Secaucus Town Clerk, Michael Marra, there are 11,411 registered voters in Secaucus, and 5,567 people voted at the polls.

This map from the Hudson County clerk shows how the county voted: The only areas that chose Hugin are the southern-most tip of Bayonne, part of Kearny and the center of Secaucus near Buchmuller Park, Ward 1, District 4.
