Hudson County Vaccine Site Now Open To Kids 12 And Up

They will give the shots to teens Saturday and Monday. You must make an appointment first; this is not walk-ins for kids or teens.

KEARNY, NJ — The vaccine site run by Hudson County in Kearny said they will open Saturday morning — tomorrow — to administer the Pfizer vaccine to anyone who is 12 or older and lives, works or studies in Hudson County.

The site currently has 150 appointments open between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and an additional 1,200 Pfizer doses available on Monday. You must make an appointment first; they are not currently accepting walk-ins for kids or teens, although nearly all the sites in New Jersey are now offering walk-ins for adult vaccine shots.

Teens must have their parents' written approval and be accompanied by a parent or guardian to the shot.

The vaccine site is located at the USS Juneau Center at 110 Hackensack in Kearny.

The decision to add an additional vaccination day (Saturday) comes after the CDC said this week children as young as 12 can begin receiving the vaccine. Hudson County usually closes their vaccine site on weekends, but the county said they wanted to open this Saturday so teens could get the shot without missing a day of school.

“Expanding eligibility of the Pfizer vaccine for younger populations is another big step forward in our fight against COVID-19,” said Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, a Democrat. “We are working to make this vaccine more easily available to students by offering weekend vaccinations at our county-run site so they do not miss classroom time. I encourage anyone who lives, works or studies in Hudson County who has not yet been vaccinated to trust the science and schedule an appointment today.”
