Meadowlands YMCA Offers Free COVID, Antibody Testing

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — Starting next week, the Meadowlands YMCA will be offering no-fee COVID tests and blood testing for the antibodies.

Starting Thursday, June 18, the testing will be offered free and to the general public; previously, it was only available to members of the Meadowlands YMCA.

Both symptomatic as well as asymptomatic people will be tested. No prescription or health insurance is required.

COVID testing will be done via nasal swab. The YMCA says it will organize a line of cars so there will be no contact. Antibody testing, performed with a standard blood test, detects antibodies that indicate the patient has been exposed to COVID-19. That will not require a prescription, either. This will all be done for free.

The nasal swab testing is only offered on June 18 and the blood testing is also offered for one day only, on June 24. The blood testing is already sold out, but they are working to add a second date.

• Drive-thru Covid swab testing will take place in the patient’s car. Patients must wear mask until testing. Cars will line up on Murray Hill Parkway.
• Antibody testing will be administered in the Gatorade Gym. Park in the lot and walk to back of building to enter the gym. Test forms should be completed upon registration (English and Spanish)
• Test results will be provided to patients within 3-5 days.

COVID-19 Testing: Thursday, June 18

• Members & Y Staff Only Testing: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
• Community Testing - Open to all (not just East Rutherford residents or YMCA members): Noon – 2 p.m.

Antibody Testing: Wednesday, June 24

• Members & Y Staff Only Testing: 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
• Community Testing - Open to all (not just East Rutherford residents or YMCA members): Noon – 2 p.m.
