Motherhood Maternity In Jersey Gardens Mall To Close: Report

ELIZABETH, NJ — The Mother Maternity outlet in the Jersey Gardens mall is on a list released by USA Today of stores owned by Destination Maternity that are scheduled to close.

Destination Maternity plans to close 201 locations in the United States, the company announced Wednesday. The store closures are happening as the maternity apparel store continues its Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection case.

Four of those locations will be in New Jersey. They are:

• Bridgewater - Destination Maternity
• Deptford - Motherhood Maternity
• Elizabeth - Motherhood Maternity Outlet (in the Jersey Gardens mall)
• Shrewsbury - A Pea in the Pod

The bad news continues: Destination Maternity is headquartered in New Jersey and the company also plans to layoff 642 people in corporate locations: Florence (212 job losses) and Moorestown (430).

The company has 62 Destination Maternity stores across the nation, in addition to its 799 Motherhood Maternity stores and its 40 Pea in the Pod locations.

The company says it plans to keep some brick-and-mortar stores open, and keep its online shopping website up.
