Secaucus High Football Player Nominated For NY Giants Award
A Secaucus Patriots football player was nominated by his coach to receive a 2019 "Heart of a Giant" award, given by the NY Giants.

SECAUCUS, NJ — A proud Patriots football player at Secaucus High School was nominated by one of his coaches to receive a 2019 "Heart of a Giant" award, presented by the New York Giants NFL team and the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.
That player is Brandon Tabasco, a senior at Secaucus High.
Every summer, the New York Giants ask high school football coaches across the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) to nominate certain players. The student-athletes are chosen for unique reasons and usually because they overcame a person struggle: For example, this varsity football player down in Keansburg was nominated because he had his arm amputated due to childhood cancer, and yet he still plays football.

Currently being 140 pounds and 5’8”, Brandon has been a small kid his whole life. He was constantly frustrated with his size, his coaches say, but that didn’t matter on the football field.
That's where Brandon felt he was finally able to show that he could compete with kids bigger than him.

“I realized I could play because I had heart — I wasn’t scared to throw my body at someone to make a tackle or cover the bigger and taller receiver. Playing football changed the way people look at me,” said Brandon.
Tabasco is an absolute asset to his team, said Secaucus Patriots assistant coach William Kvalheim.
“He has never missed a practice, meeting, weight room session, chalk talk, walk through or game," said Kvalheim. "His character and passion for Secaucus athletics has made him a leader by example and a person who the young athletes in our community can look up to.”
You can vote for Brandon or whichever athlete of your choosing!
Student-athletes that win can receive a $10,000 equipment grant for their program, meaning the Secaucus Patriots will receive all new equipment if Brandon gets the most votes. You can vote for a player here: https://usafootball.com/hoagvote/
