Secaucus Police Blotter, March 15 - March 21

There were multiple DWI arrests last week, and police say Ramsey and Montclair men were found with heroin in town, in separate incidents.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus police and unedited by Patch, all of last week's arrests:

On March 15 at 2:40 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the area of CVS located at 101 Plaza Centre Road on a report of individuals soliciting in front of the store. During the investigation, the police arrested a 25-year-old male, Jose Vanegas of Jersey City, NJ for one outstanding warrant issued out of Newark, NJ in the amount of $750. Vanegas was also charged with Hindering Apprehension [2C:29-3B(7)] for providing false information to the police. Vanegas was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date in Newark. Vanegas was served his complaint summons and was released from police custody.

On March 15 at 4:31 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the area of 1285 Paterson Plank Road on a report of a motor vehicle that was parked blocking the crosswalk area. During the investigation, the police arrested a 29-year-old male, James Aguiar of Montclair, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50] and Possession of CDS believed to be Alprazolam [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of CDS believed to be Diazepam [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of CDS believed to be Gabapentin [2C:35-10A(1)],Possession of CDS believed to be Heroin [2C:35-10A(1)], Possession of CDS believed to be Crack Cocaine [2C:35-10A(1)] and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2]. Aguiar was served his complaint summons along with his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated and an additional six motor vehicle summons and was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On March 16 at 2:42 a.m., police arrested a 26-year-old male, Anthony Riley of Jersey City, NJ after Riley entered Secaucus Police Headquarters for the purpose of being processed for the charges of Burglary [2C:18-2A(1)], Theft [2C:20-3A] and Conspiracy [2C:5-2A(1)] stemming from a burglary into a truck that occurred at 550 Meadowlands parkway on March 1. Riley was processed for the charges and was released from police custody.

On March 16 at 3:56 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 31-year-old male, Austin Roberts of Ramsey, NJ for Possession of CDS believed to be Heroin [2C:35-10A(1)]. Roberts was served his complaint summons and was released from police custody.

On March 16 at 8:21 p.m., the police arrested a 30-year-old male, Medardo Hernandez-Lopez of Jersey City, NJ after Hernandez-Lopez entered Secaucus Police Headquarters for the purpose of being processed for the charges of Aggravated Assault [2C:12-1B(7)] and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4D] stemming from an incident that took place at AJ’s Nightclub and Sports Bar located at 201 Secaucus Road on Feb. 14. Hernandez-Lopez was processed for the charges and was released from police custody.

On March 16 at 9:55 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 21-year-old male, Jamir Reddick of Irvington, NJ for one outstanding warrant issued out of Union, NJ with a bail amount of $250. The Union Police Department released Reddick on his own recognizance pending a future court date. Reddick was issued five motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

On March 17 at 12:29 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 36-year-old male, Corvelle Cook of Jersey City, NJ for one outstanding warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ in the amount of $150. Cook was able to post bail for the involved warrant, was issued three motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

On March 18 at 10:55 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 29-year-old male, Gurpreet Singh of Lodi, NJ for one outstanding warrant issued out of Maywood, NJ in the amount of $500. Singh was able to post bail for the involved warrants, was served four motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

On March 18 at 3:38 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to NJ State Highway Rt. 3 East in the area of the exit for Meadowlands Parkway on a report of a motor vehicle accident. During the investigation, police arrested a 38-year-old male, Cory Dawson of Jersey City, NJ for Driving While Under the Influence of Marijuana [39:4-50]. Dawson was served his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional three motor vehicle summonses. After sufficient time passed, Mr. Dawson was released from police custody after he was no longer deemed under the influence.

On March 19 at 9:26 a.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 31-year-old male, Kassuan Jackson of Paterson, NJ for one outstanding warrant issued out of Elmwood Park, NJ in the amount of $500. Jackson was able to post bail for the involved warrant, was issued five motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

On March 20 at 9:08 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to the area of 1307 Paterson Plank Road on a welfare check following a report of an individual sleeping inside a motor vehicle. During the investigation, the police arrested a 32-year-old male, Harold Polo of Little Ferry, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Polo was served his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional two motor vehicle summonses and was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On March 21 at 8:51 a.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 32-year-old female, Appear Wright of Newark, NJ for one outstanding warrant issued out of East Brunswick, NJ in the amount of $500 along with one outstanding warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ in the amount of $99. The East Brunswick Police Department released Wright on her own recognizance pending a future court date. Wright was able to post bail for the warrant issued out of Jersey City, NJ. Wright was issued two motor vehicle summonses and was released from police custody.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
