Secaucus Police Do Undercover Prostitution Bust Friday Night

SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus Police conducted an undercover prostitution sting this past Friday at several of the motels in town, and arrested a man and several women.

The names of the motels are not being released due to ongoing investigations, said Police Chief Dennis Miller.

When Miller was sworn in last March, he promised to clean up the vice crimes (drug, prostitution, violence) that occur in the area's motels, located right outside New York City and near the Meadowlands racetrack and NFL stadium.

He said the department did the undercover sting because a majority of the town's violent crimes are related to the ongoing problem of prostitution that goes on in the town's motels.

Starting from about 4:45 p.m. Friday, March 26 through 8:30 that night, the following women and men were arrested:

• Elena Velikaia, 31, of Brooklyn, NY for Engaging in Prostitution [2C:34-1B(8)]
• Nelly Monge, 27, of Paterson, NJ for Engaging in Prostitution [2C:34-1B(8)]
• Rosa Escalera, 25, of San Juan, Puerto Rico for Engaging in Prostitution [2C:34-1B(8)]
• Jonathan Polanco-Cruz, 29, of Woodland Park, NJ for Promoting Prostitution [2C:34-1B(2)]
• Decole Maxwell, 25, of Portland, OR for Engaging in Prostitution [2C:34-1B(8)]
