Secaucus Walmart, Sam's Club Have Moderna Vaccine, Free Appts.

SECAUCUS, NJ — The Secaucus Walmart and Sam's Club want to remind everyone that they both have the Moderna coronavirus in stock, and they also have appointments available.

Sam's Club and Walmart are owned by the same company, Walmart, Inc.

Walmarts in Kearny, Bayonne and North Bergen have the vaccine also. A total of 34 Walmarts and Sam's Clubs in New Jersey have the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

What all these stores have in stock is the Moderna vaccine, which requires two shots. They do not have the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, said the company.

Many adverse reactions are being anecdotally reported with the Moderna/Pfizer vaccines, such as extreme fatigue, pain at the injection site and flu-like symptoms. More serious negative reactions, including deaths, have been reported to the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Effects Reporting System (VAERS). However, doctors and scientists are unable to confirm these reactions were caused by the vaccine.

The New York Times chronicled why these flu-like reactions might be happening in this article. The vaccine manufacturers say such strong reactions are normal, part of how the vaccines work and that their vaccines are safe.

In mid-February, the CDC said more than 13.7 million Moderna/Pfizer shots had been administered in the United States, with 6,994 reports of adverse reactions, 640 classified as “serious,” including 113 deaths, according to CNBC.

The FDA requires any vaccine provider to report deaths to VAERS after someone gets a vaccine. For example, a 39-year-old otherwise healthy Utah woman died last week after getting her second shot of the Moderna vaccine. Her family said they think her death was vaccine related, however doctors say there is no way to verify that. An autopsy has been ordered on her body.

Dr. Erik Christensen, Utah's chief Medical Examiner, told local Utah news outlets that proving vaccine injury as a cause of death almost never happens.
