Things To Do This Weekend With Kids In Secaucus, May 4/5
Not one, but two fishing derbies, Touch-a-Truck at Garden State Plaza Sunday and the Secaucus Green Festival at Xchange!

SECAUCUS, NJ — Look no further than our own backyards: There's lots going on right in town (or very close by) this weekend in Secaucus.
Saturday, May 4:
Secaucus: 8 a.m. - noon: Secaucus town fishing derby: Held at the Duck Pond. You don't need to sign up in advance to compete in the fishing derby; simply show up Saturday morning ready to fish. Prizes will be awarded. Bait provided.

Fort Lee: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Hooked on the Hudson fishing contest at Palisades Interstate Park. Yes, if you just can't get enough of fishing this weekend, there is another event very close by also on Saturday: Held every year by the Hudson River Fishermen's Association, this is a fishing derby held on the banks of the Hudson at Palisades Interstate Park Ross Dock Picnic Area, Fort Lee, NJ 07024. Annual fishing contest (for all ages), exhibits & more with the Hudson River Fishermen's Association. Equipment and bait provided.
Secaucus: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.: The Secaucus Green Festival at Xchange: Now in its ninth year, this annual festival put on by the Secaucus Environmental Department keeps getting bigger and better. This year, they will have electric cars that festivalgoers can try out and take for a spin. There will also be the usual live animals, a petting zoo and pony rides and free boats rides of the Hackensack, courtesy of the Hackensack Riverkeeper. NJ Batman will also be giving presentations and talking to kids about bats. There will be food trucks, live music, face painting and slime, plus a climbing wall. Plenty of fun for families.

Clifton: 1 p.m. - midnight: St. George Greek Festival in Clifton: Enjoy all things Greek at this very popular local festival. Not only will they have traditional Greek cuisine, live music and folk dancing, but also Greek items for sale and tours of the church. Also running Sunday, May 5 from noon to 8 p.m. Held at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church 818 Valley Road; Clifton, NJ 07013

Carlstadt: Eco-Cruise with Hackensack Riverkeeper: Sunday, May 5 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Join Tenafly Nature Center and Hackensack Riverkeeper for a special spring treat. Eco-cruises have become famous for showcasing the amazing environment and bio-diversity that exists right around us in New Jersey. On this fully-narrated tour you will see migrating waterfowl, turtles, snakes, & birds of prey making their nests along bridges. This program leaves from the River Barge Park & Marina, located at 260 Outwater Lane in Carlstadt. Children ages 4 and up please. Paramus: Touch a Truck in the parking lot at the Garden State Plaza mall. Kids can explore trucks of all sizes and shapes, plus there will be bounce houses, face-painting, fun bus, etc.) Tickets are $30 for a family of four or $10 per individual. Held rain or shine. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Lord & Taylor parking lot at Garden State Plaza.
Hoboken: Hoboken Springs Arts & Music Festival. All day Sunday.
Secaucus: Stranger Con at the Meadowlands Expo Center (Both Saturday and Sunday): If your teen is a fan of the hit Netflix show "Stranger Things," they might like this: Stranger Con will be headlined by Millie Bobby Brown and co-star Noah Schnapp; both will be making appearances on Sunday. This convention celebrates the intriguing mysteries, Steven Spielberg/Stephen King vibe and the world of Hawkins, Indiana. Hackettstown: All day Saturday and Sunday: The 27th annual Hackettstown Spring Festival: The Hackettstown Spring Festival has been a weekend of family fun, amusement rides, and community for 27 years now. Friday, May 3, 6-10pm Saturday, May 4, 12 noon-10pm Sunday, May 5, 12 noon-6pm Held on the fields next to Hatchery Hill Elementary School.
Mars Wrigley Confectionery will host their tried-and-true array of interactive activities, giving away plenty of their famous candy and snack products.
Hackettstown Medical Center will feature a “Teddy Bear Hospital” on Sunday, May 5, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Children ages 3-6 are invited to bring their ill or injured stuffed animals to the hospital tent for care. Throughout the Festival, the hospital will host games and offer free snacks in its main tent.
Blue Sky Amusements will have a number of rides, games, and carnival food for purchase across the weekend. Admission to the festival is free, but you pay for parking.
