Bummer way to start a day for sure - Car Crash

Bummer way to start a day for sure. During my early morning walk out my block, around 8 AM, I encountered what remained of an accident. 

Still not sure what happened but this is not what was expected by me or by whomever was on their way to work, school etc. This is just one side. of the accident. I saw the paramedics take someone away.

Made me think of all the new features that are in cars these days and it reminded me of a CBSNews article the other day stating that " In past progress toward safer cars, devices like seat belts were aimed at protecting you in a crash. Today, new safety technology is moving toward preventing an accident from happening at all."

Prevention features like:

  • Backup cameras
  • Crash avoidance systems
  • Blind spot side avoidance systems.
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Antilock braking systems (ABS)
  • Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA)
  • Visibility (seeing and being seen)
  • etc 

I like prevention better than protection after the fact, how about you? I wonder if the features above could have prevented this one.
