CC Minton and SOMA Resident Provide Stuck at Home Parents a Break
CC Minton, Best Kids Book Author NJ, Teams Up with Maplewood Resident Elisha Wasden to Launch Daddy's Greek Potato Pie Virtual Experience
CC Minton launched a new Lifestyle Prep for Kids virtual experience featuring her children’s book Daddy’s Greek Potato Pie (a book about healthy eating). Maplewood resident Elisha Wasden, one the book’s characters, was a co-host and teacher assistant for the event.
Daddy’s Greek Potato Pie Virtual Experience is a new edition to the author’s Lifestyle Prep for Kids program. The Lifestyle Prep for Kids program engages children (5-9) and tweens (10-13) to explore the benefits of healthy eating, growing by interacting as well as teaching and learning in a virtual setting. In addition a participant helps lead the class as a teacher’s assistant.
Daddy’s Greek Potato Pie Virtual Experience allows young aspiring chefs to make and bake in the comfort of their home. It is educational and a great way for kids to have fun. “I really enjoyed the cooking demonstration which gave everyone in the class a chance to prepare their own pie at home. Most of all, I appreciate Ms. CC for giving me the opportunity to be an assistant teacher and hope to do more classes with her in the future,” said Elisha. Using a step-by-step recipe, participants learn how to mix, mash and have fun just like the internet sensation McClure Twins did in the media-based episode of the Discovery Twins. The hands-on-experience teaches about science, math, measuring, and problem-solving using ingredients from all 5 major food groups.

Due to the Social Distancing Requirements of COVID-19, the virtual experience allows moms and dads time away from the stay at home routine and the kids learn to make and bake a healthy treat. “My son loved his Greek Potato Pie. He was thrilled to mix the ingredients and put his special spices in it. He’s made two more pies since the class. I may have a chef on my hands”, says Dr. Rochelle Herring. Classes are held weekly and participants bring themselves to the experience using a local computer or phone screen. It’s all about making Daddy’s Greek Potato Pie with mom and dad close by.
