
Columbia High School is listed at number 75 of the 322 New Jersey public high school ranked by New Jersey Monthly. Last year, CHS ranked at number 89. The rankings were released on Monday, August 23.
Monmouth University's Polling Institute gathered and analyzed data. Categories and indicators used to calculate ranking include: School Environment, Student Performance, and Student Outcomes. School Environment measures student-computer ratio, percentage of faculty with advanced degrees, as well as class size, number of AP tests offered and similar data. Student Performance includes performance on SAT and HSPA tests. Student Outcome measures graduation rates, as well as secondary education. Four-year colleges carry the most weight.
Essex County boasts the top-ranking high school, Millburn High School, and also has four Newark high schools and Orange High School, which appear in the final ten schools listed.
