Here and Now: Letters (2008-2011) is a collaboration by correspondence between Auster and fellow writer and Nobel laureate J. M. Coetzee.

Paul Auster, Columbia High School Class of 65, has published a new book. Here and Now: Letters (2008-2011) is a collaboration by correspondence between Auster and fellow writer and Nobel laureate J. M. Coetzee.

Although Auster and Coetzee had been reading each other’s books for years, the two writers did not meet until February 2008, explains Auster on his website.

Not long after, Auster received a letter from Coetzee, suggesting they begin exchanging letters on a regular basis and, “God willing, strike sparks off each other.”
