East Orange Man Turns Himself In For Burglary, Police Say

An East Orange man was arrested in South Orange, Tuesday, after police linked him to a Grove Street burglary earlier in the week.

Michael Hart, 46, of East Orange was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 12 around 5:30 p.m. after police determined he was responsible for a burglary on Grove St. on Saturday, Nov. 9., according to a police report.

At the time of the incident, police received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of a vacant home. Officers arrived and found the rear sliding glass door open but did not find any sings of criminal activity, according to the report.

“Officers then checked the surrounding dwellings and discovered a subject fleeing from a residence where a broken window was detected,” police said.

South Orange Police Officers and the Essex County K-9 Unit were unable to locate the man.

Police determined the man responsible for the burglary was Hart, who then turned himself in at the request of a Detective assigned to the case.

He was processed accordingly, police said.
