The police blotter reflects thefts from cars, both locked and unlocked

The police blotter suggests that valuables should be removed from vehicles and those vehicles locked.

On July 13, a resident of S. Stanley Rd. reported that the two right rear windows of a Mercury station wagon were smashed. Apparently nothing was taken, and the owner was not home at the time.

July 16 saw the removal of a red For Sale sign from the front yard of a Centre St. home.

On July 18, a Mercer Pl. resident reported that person or persons threw a rock through the home's window. The resident noted that juveniles often congregate on the corner of Varsity Rd. and Mercer Pl., though it's not known if they were involved in this incident.

A Glenview Rd. resident reported that a person or persons unknown threw eggs at the door of the residents sometime between Sun., July 18 in the evening, and July 19 in the morning.

On July 18, a laptop computer was reported stolen. It was taken from its case and removed from a car parked on Turrell Ave. The case and paperwork were left behind.

Similarly, an Apple iTouch was removed from a car parked on Irving Ave. The theft was reported on July 18. The car was unlocked at the time.

On July 18, SOPD responded to a Church St. address where officers learned that a resident's vehicle was tampered with.
